The global workers we support are just as important in God’s eyes as the communities they serve. We know healthy missionaries make healthy missions, and that holistic transformation happens at the intersection of worship, prayer, and care.

Since 1972, our passion has been preparing and sending global workers who preach and live the gospel to make disciples. CI invests in the lives of mission workers through training, strategic coaching and care, and tending to their souls. We’re committed to helping develop and maintain emotional, spiritual, financial, physical, and mental health among all our mission workers.
We join our mission workers on a journey of listening, learning, loving, and leading by the power of the Holy Spirit. These methods create an ongoing culture of personal transformation that equips global workers to see change happen in their relationships and mission work.
We love because He first loved us, which frees us to love and serve Him and our neighbor. As we’re transformed more and more into His image and embrace His rhythm, our mission, too, is transformed. We’re compelled to invest well in one another as we make disciples of the nations.
Our Statement of Faith is a core foundation for our ministry and mission. We believe:
That the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God, inerrant in the original writings, and are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.
That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
That for the lost and sinful man or woman, repentance from sin, acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are absolutely essential.
In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose cleansing power and indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live an effective, holy, and witnessing life.
In the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
In the spiritual unity of believers in Christ, and we strive to work cooperatively with all who claim His name in faith.

Our hard-working staff and board are second-to-none. We’re a team dedicated to helping missionaries thrive so that God is glorified in every place we minister. If our hope is to bring light into dark places, our focus must be to fan the flames of the gift of God within each believer and prepare them to shine brightly, bringing glory to the Father. Your prayers and support are the fuel that makes this possible.

In the summer of 1972, Cornerstone International, Inc. (CI) was incorporated as a missions board. The founding director officially organized the sending agency, then called The Cornerstone, Inc. Shortly after this, he and his family became the first mission workers to Italy. The ministry continued, and mission workers were sent to other nations in Europe, including Germany and France.
In 1988, the founding director resigned, and the board began a search for a new full-time director. In January 1991, the board approached Duane Jones to be the interim director. Eventually, it became apparent to all that Duane was indeed the man that God called to fill this position, and in July 1995, he was commissioned as the full-time Executive Director for Cornerstone International.

As he began his tenure, Duane believed that CI would branch out from Europe to other nations, especially Latin America. As God directed, this has indeed been the case, and now CI has over 50 mission workers in over 15 countries. We have mission workers serving in the USA, Honduras, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador, Norway, Kenya, Uganda, Thailand, and many more.
In 2001, after moving the office to several locations, the Lord enabled CI to purchase nearly 11 acres with a house that serves as the mission's base office. This blessing provides room for board meetings, dinners, and other events, as well as five individual offices and a bedroom suite open to CI friends and mission workers who need a place to stay.

In 2003, the Lord began leading us to establish a house of prayer on our missions base so that the ministry of CI, at home and abroad, would be fueled by worship and intercession. The board approved this direction, and in July 2004, after a six-month trial period, the board commissioned Jo McKenzie as an Intercessory Missionary and the Director of the CI-House of Prayer (CI-HOP).
In September of 2015, after more than 10 years of operating at the mission's base, the director was led to move the house of prayer and open as Sanctuary in downtown Wilmore. CI remains in close affiliation with Sanctuary and has also continued various weekly corporate prayer and worship meetings on-site at the CI missions base, continuing to fuel CI’s missions mandate with prayer and worship.
In July 2016, Duane Jones resigned as president, but the Lord quickly provided a replacement. At this same time, Craig and Kara G (CI missionaries to SE Asia since 2004) and their family were transitioning to the States and seeking the Lord as to His plan for the next season. It seemed good to CI, to Craig, and to the Holy Spirit that Craig lead the next season of CI. In January 2017, he officially became CI’s president.
In 2023, after faithfully serving CI for over six years as president, Craig felt the Lord’s calling to shift his focus from the presidency to serving unengaged, unreached people groups (UUPGs) more intentionally. With this new promotion, the Lord stirred the hearts of the CI board to pursue Hal Hamilton, CI’s Director of Mobilization, to move into the presidency. Hal graciously accepted the new calling and has been serving as the CI president since September 2023.
If you feel God stirring your heart, we’d love to walk with you. Whether you’re discerning a call to missions, looking to partner with us, or want to support those already serving, we’re here to connect.
